FAQ

Sometimes it's the simple things like coloring books that help us understand the world better. That was exactly the idea when we started another project after the successful Skin Color Pencils and Wax Crayons: A coloring book that celebrates the diversity of our world.

At the end of 2017, Malte Bedürftig developed this idea together with activist artists. The idea was to create children's coloring books that offer more than the usual motifs. The "Coloring Book for All" should not only be fun for the little artists to paint, but also show the many different realities of life. This includes different skin tones, cultures, beliefs and family models, differences between rich and poor, as well as different types of love and the diversity of opinions and characters.

We had noticed that there are many coloring books, but only a few that emphasize the value of diversity and the importance of discrimination-free education. That's where our "Coloring Book for All" comes in.

With the "Coloring Book for All" we want to promote not only the joy of coloring, but also a better understanding of the colorful world around us. A lovingly designed book for all children that shows: Our differences make us special.

In an increasingly globalized world, understanding and dealing with diversity is one of the most important skills children learn. But how do you teach children about the multifaceted diversity of our society? Coloring books can play a crucial role here.

The first step: understanding by seeing
Before children learn to read and write, they perceive their surroundings primarily visually. Coloring books for children are therefore ideal tools for introducing them to different cultures, lifestyles and family models, for example. In the colorful pages of coloring books, children can discover different skin tones, traditional clothing, different festivals and much more, and color them themselves.

The power of children's coloring books
When it comes to the topic of diversity, children's coloring books offer far more than just an activity. They are windows to other worlds. By coloring pictures, children can come into contact with differences and similarities in a playful way and thus leave prejudices and stereotypes behind. A good example of this is the "Coloring Book for All." It shows not only different skin colors, but also different realities of life. In this way, children can see that there are many ways to shape life and that each of these ways has its own value.

Integrating coloring books into everyday life
To tap the full potential of coloring books, it is important to see them not only as an activity, but also as a learning tool. Parents and educators can bring the topic of diversity to the forefront in everyday life by coloring and discussing the pictures together.
Diversity is an important building block for an open and tolerant society. Coloring books, especially those that depict this diversity, are simple but effective tools to accompany children on this path. Because in the colorful pages of coloring books lies the opportunity to broaden our children's horizons and show them that the world, with all its differences and details, is wonderful.

At a time when screens and digital media dominate our children's lives, coloring books are experiencing a renaissance. But not every coloring book stands out. So what makes a really good coloring book?

Clarity and stimulation: The Basis of Coloring Books for Kids
A good coloring book offers clear outlines that help kids stay within the lines. But that alone does not make an outstanding coloring book. Much more important is the coloring book's ability to spark children's imaginations. This is where coloring books for children that tell a story or depict different scenarios in which children can find themselves or discover something new come into play.

Coloring books with depth: more than just pictures
The best coloring books are those that not only inspire children to color, but also to think. They show diversity, tell stories, and encourage children to think beyond what is drawn. The "Coloring Book for All" takes exactly this approach by including various aspects of diversity - from skin color and appearance to origins, religion and cultures, as well as different opinions and character traits.

High-quality workmanship: durability counts
In addition to the content, the quality of the workmanship also plays a role. Good children's coloring books use sturdy paper that does not become soggy when it comes into contact with colors. The "Coloring Book for Everyone" scores additional points here with environmentally friendly natural cardboard and fair working conditions during production.

Integration into everyday life
A good coloring book should also be easy to integrate into everyday life. It should be designed in such a way that children can work with it at any time and anywhere - whether at home, at kindergarten or while traveling.

A good coloring book is more than just a book with pictures to color. It stimulates the imagination, promotes creative development and at the same time conveys important values. The "Coloring Book for All" meets all these criteria and even goes one step further by introducing children to the diversity of our world, thus making a valuable contribution to education.

Coloring books are more than just entertainment; they promote creativity, hand-eye coordination and relaxation. But to really enjoy these benefits, you need the right pens. But which pens are best suited for coloring books?

Colored Pencils: The all-rounder among coloring tools
Colored pencils are the most common choice when it comes to coloring books. They are easy to use, don't stain, and come in a variety of colors. Their fine tip allows for detailed work, ideal for intricate designs in adult coloring books or detail-loving children.

Felt-tip pens: intense colors with one stroke
Felt-tip pens deliver bold, rich colors and are available in a variety of tones and tip widths. One minor drawback might be that they can push through paper if too much pressure is applied. Therefore, it is important to choose a coloring book with slightly thicker paper when using felt-tip pens.

Wax crayons: for the little artists
Wax crayons are especially popular with younger children. They are sturdy, do not break easily and are ideal for coloring in large areas. They are also easy to wash off, which makes them particularly family-friendly.

Watercolor pencils: For advanced artists
Whoever likes it a bit more artistic might be interested in watercolor pencils. They can be used dry or mixed with water to create beautiful watercolor effects. However, it is advisable to use them in coloring books with thicker paper to avoid rippling the paper.

Our recommendation: Skin Tones pencils and wax crayons
For those who want to create not only colorful, but also realistic portraits in their coloring books, we recommend our Skin Tones pencils and wax crayons. With a palette of shades that reflect the diversity of our world, they are the perfect tools to bring any face to life authentically. Ideal for children who want to closely observe the world around them and capture it on paper.

Choosing the right pencil depends on individual preferences and the intended outcome. Whether pencils, markers or wax crayons - there is a suitable tool for every purpose and coloring book. It's worth trying out different pens and finding out which ones suit you or your child best.
